Once Upon a Time a fresh light shone here,
Excuberant and dappled, twinkling in a crisp breeze,
Bouncing playfully off laughter,
And promises of Happy Ever After.
Now the air is turgid, heavy and damp,
Only sorrow growing, a grotesque mould,
Shadows linger too long, catching in crevices,
Silent witnesses to forsaken hopes.
Dreams quashed and broken sorrows
Are all that remain in the vaccuous halls,
Of Happy Ever After
