Effort – a Kenning Poem

tiresome toil
relentless drudgery
unending labour
fruitless pain
meaningless sweat

evolving benefit

welcome dividend
rewarding fortune
ultimate security
refreshing satisfaction

disagreeable loathing

Rich Virus

the seed that is planted is mutant
fertilised with greed
it is doomed
watered with desire
it grows as a tumour
insidious in its malignancy
a self perpetuating cog
trapped within its own corruption
an inescapable destiny
a rotting empire
rich virus

Goodbye Mother Earth

though the sun wept bitter tears
the drenched land remained barren

an unfertile thing made by men
laden with forgotten memories
clogged within thick wet dust

the exhaust fumes of yester-years progress
pathing the burden of tomorrows treachery

and the strangling death of Mother Earth
