NaPoWriMo – Day Nine

cold rain pelting
piercing daggers of liquid ice
lashing winds howl
crashing gumnuts onto the tin roof
miniature wooden torpedoes
the house shakes and groans grievously
winter sets in
though Autumn has not yet bid farewell
injecting a bitterness
as mother nature unfurls her lamenting torment

A New Years Resolution

A New Years Resolution…

to smell warm eucalyptus and forthcoming rain
not the smoky black burden of fires ferocious aftermath

to listen to a gentle summer breeze rustle green leaves
not unseasonal winds wreaking havoc across the now barren land

to taste clean fresh water gurgling
not greedy corporate pollution running through my veins

to feel warm sun and green grass
not despair at the grisley cries of once bountiful Mother Nature dying

to gaze upward and outward
not inward where gloom grips the soul with an unending relentless grasp

My New Years Resolution….

Goodbye Mother Earth

though the sun wept bitter tears
the drenched land remained barren

an unfertile thing made by men
laden with forgotten memories
clogged within thick wet dust

the exhaust fumes of yester-years progress
pathing the burden of tomorrows treachery

and the strangling death of Mother Earth

The Future of Seeds

what has become of the seeds
once sown
tilled rich moist soil
fertile
red dirt blanket
enveloping warmth
keeping safe the stalks
feeding nourishing

what has become of the seeds
brown bare earth lay
bountiless
only dead dust blowing
trapped within a barren windswept bowl

Tomorrow

dark swirls of noiseless wind
tug endlessly
tall ageless trees
branches strung out
silhouetting the night sky
vulnerable
defenceless
against mother nature’s savage breath
slowly ravaging
time lumbers obliviously
till virgin glints of sunlight
cut a crevice in the earth
a black hole sucking life from the tempest
and spewing forth another eulogy of despair

Day To Hundred and Ninety: 9th May 2013

unseasonably warm
and balmy
was the verdict
while sitting contently
toes buried in soft sand
sipping spritzers
blissfully ignorant
