NaPoWriMo – Day Twenty Nine

soft and silky skin
pink and pleasingly pressed
eager and energetically enticing
carnal and cautiously copious
inspired and irresistibly indulgent
amorous and amply appealing
luscious and lasciviously lusty

Insomnia

darkness seeps through these veins
my pounding heart an unlikely companion
invisible ceiling hovering
crushing my body
the absent tick tock of the clock
trawling through the long hours
dreamlessness a curse to my once stable mind
the sweet peace of sleep evading this restless soul
as I wait night after endless night

Playing with Words

I wrote a poem in my head today
but now my mind is completely dead
and I think back on it bleakly
hoping for that extra creative hit
even becoming unusually meditative
then it comes to me and I write furiously
my spirits to an even greater height
inspiration – the great inflater

Why We Need Socialism

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
I stumbled upon a wayward thought, altogether forgotten, and dreary,
what if the world were safe, forever colourful, and cheery,

where would my mind go, wandering on, discovering anew,
uncovering latent  ideas, a final encore, before the final coup,
of government betrayals, and midnight deals, a corporate shrew.

Prompt for day 25 from www.napowrimo.com
“write a poem that begins with a line from a another poem (not necessarily the first line), but then goes elsewhere with it”  – so I chose The Raven by Egar Allan Poe … most of my poetry is dark and Poe is a great inspiration to me…. 🙂

How to Throw on the Potters Wheel – A Didactic poem

firstly become centred
feel the moisture
envelope your being
gliding between your fingertips
pulling up squeezing down
slowly gently opening
guiding delicate curves
skillfully pulling upwards
shaping the sturdy foot
caressing the bulging belly
supporting the shoulder
tenderly smoothing ripples

creating a life

Prompt from www.napowrimo.net :
“Many years ago, “didactic” poetry was very common – in other words, poetry that explicitly sought to instruct the reader in some kind of skill or knowledge, whether moral, philosophical, or practical. Today, I’d like to challenge you to write the latter kind of “how to” poem – a didactic poem that focuses on a practical skill”  …. so my response – my practical skill is throwing on the potters wheel 🙂

Regrets

napo2016button1

tiredness pervades my brittle bones
years accumulate stealthily absent
pervading a life long fought
bearing no wayward mercy
brutal vindication of a life mislaid

Today…

napo2016button1

a warm breeze tickles the curtain
billowing
gently caressing this now naked body
sweating
breakfast aromas waft up the hallway
enticing
the start of a new day
loving

Death

darkness crept
a cold comforting blanket
enveloping my rotting body

warm tingling
extinguished by bitter chill
iciness soaking my veins

happy memories
brutally consumed by distance
hovering on the horizon

of oblivion
