Uluru

buzzing buzzing
tiny black flies sticky
red dusty sweat viscous honey
a rolling ball of heat suspended
fiercely in a bare blue canopy
unsympathetic
blazing heat radiating from a rock
so old so large so red
whispering stories of ancient times

stand still be silent and listen
let the earth tell you the story

Day Two Hundred and Two: 10th February, 2013

the voices are rising louder in my head
indistinguishable whispers
now audible screams
yelling a language
only i understand

Day Two Hundred and One: 9th February 2013

when your letter arrived
my hands shook in rythmic harmony
and a solitary bead of sweat
slid uncomfortably down my nose
I placed it (you) on the empty kitchen table
gazing at it (you) over the boiling kettle
that turned itself off and startled me
back to reality
and my bleary eyes rested on the clean white envelope
that would remain unopened

Day One Hundred and Ninety Nine: 7th February 2013

wide eyed and dusty
the still stuffed toys
sit atop the cupboard
silent and staring downward
unblinking
at an empty floor
where once they played
when you were here

Day One Hundred and Ninety Seven: 5th February 2013

the door is ajar
and banging lightly
…tap tap
as a breeze pushes
through the window frame
…rattle rattle
and the walls shift
…creak creak
foundations adjusting their moorings

and i lie here in the darkness and listen
to a house
that groans
heavy with the memories of time

Day One Hundred and Ninety Six: 4th February 2013

icy trembling skin
body shivers contorted
eyes squint misty
silhouettes emerge converge
ghostly figures leering
a familiar face
vague memories resurface
almost within grasp
now fading away

Day One Hundred and Ninety Three: 1st February 2013

cold mist descends
water droplets hanging
reflecting ghostly silhouettes
tiny shiny jewels
adorning bodies gliding
buoyant suspending time

Day One Hundred and Ninety Two: 31st January 2013

swirling melancholy invades my head
a piercing spear sinking deep
anticipated darkness slowly descends
teasing the soul
denying all happiness
thickening air becoming stifling
an intuitive need to escape
but the door remains shut

Day One Hundred and Ninety One: 30th January 2013

intersecting lives
emerging as grey shadows
random patterns
on ordered brick walls
fleetingly short
while some linger longer
waiting patiently
till dissolving into darkness

Day One Hundred and Ninety: 29th January 2013

Vaguely happy tonight
Plus light headed
Rare events but
Warm summer evenings
And chatty friends
Inspire hopeful daydreams
Of future fulfilment
