the road is long
treacherous
the horizon bleak
unwavering
the closer I get
crawling
the more distant
indifferent
and eventually I vanish
forgotten

Though you speak to me,
I hear you not,
Your words blur,
And your face fades,
Until you are gone.
I will remain in the dark today, wallowing
despairing for that which never was,
and peering into the distance for a light never lit.
I’ll walk along a line never drawn,
searching for the one never found.
Live happily in a house never built,
And lie in a sun that never shone.
Standing in the rain that never fell,
I will remember the dream never dreamt,
While clinging to a life never lived.
Grey darkness hovered,
A shiny slick,
Insulating death,
Blocking the sun,
Denying warmth,
Protecting coldness,
As it crept further to the edges.
Cracked peeling paint chips,
Scattered across a damp concrete floor,
Were the sole random witnesses,
To fading whispers choking,
Trapped within mould strewn walls,
Decay a bubbling neverending stench,
Nothingness And Barren and Doorless.
Soundless footsteps tread lightly,
Down a dusty hallway,
Where no souls ever existed,
Nor any distant echo,
Of the shadowy laughter,
That evaded a torturous existence.
glowing black
cloudless sky
distant tremble
sudden flash
bright light
hidden pathways
rediscovered
Wispy smoke hazy,
Tendrils spiralling upward,
Licking my nose,
Enticing my taste buds,
Tempting my mind,
Succumb, I must…

BLUE
Gray fills the day
and my mind,
Slate coloured.
Tries to imagine blue,
But forgets,
Ensnared in the construct
called Life.

THE GRAY
Hollow eyes stare, hopeless,
Fearful, yet empty.
Tired hands reach out,
Searching, grasping nothing.
A wandering mind, tormented,
Hides from the light,
Trapped in the shadows.
Safe in the delusion,
Of seperation, Of isolation,
Of the gray.
